Dining takes on a different look and feel on the Costa Allegra because it does cater to Chinese clientele. Menus tend to be more basic because Asian passengers do not favour the six-course meals you find on most other cruise ships and cruise lines. Dinner consists of a choice of appetizers and five main courses, all of which are served with rice or noodles. In light of the fact that this is an Italian ship, though, there are also Italian specialties on the menu.
The two main dining venues on the Costa Allergra are the Montmartre and Veranda Restaurants. All meals are open seating, which also differs from the traditional style of cruising for which Costa is known. There are set times for the meals though, with breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30, lunch from noon until 1 p.m. and dinner from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The dining room to which you are assigned depends on the location of your cabin on the ship. Those with accommodations in the suites and mini-suites are assigned to the Veranda and all other passengers are assigned to the Montmartre. ![]() The Yacht Club, which is located on Deck 7, is a dining option for passengers who enjoy a more casual venue. This location features a buffet for all three meals of the day. In addition to the customary Asian cuisine, you will also find stations here with Italian foods. The Amalfi Restaurant on Deck 7 is the alternative restaurant on the Costa Allegra where you have a more intimate setting for your meal. There is a cost associated with dining in this restaurant, but instead of a set cover charge you pay the price quoted on the menu for the foods you choose for your meal. There are different types of appetizers to choose from, Italian cuisine, Asian cuisine as well as choices of meat, seafood and poultry dishes. This restaurant has semi-circular glass walls and a glass dome that gives you a view of the stars for romantic dining. Tables covered in white linen feature cutlery as well as chopsticks for the convenience of the passengers. |
